Some Background

Before I go any further with this blog thing, I must lay down a foundation as to where I am coming from.

A couple of years ago I had a vision about church. As it turns out, I have discovered that there are a number of men all across this nation that have had the same or similar vision revealed to them. I wrote up a document to organize my thoughts and sent it out to a number of friends and contacts. It was titled, “An Invitation to Share the Vision.” It may be lengthy so I will break it up topically over the next few days or weeks to share with you. It is the basis of many of the ideas that I will be sharing with you through my blog. Enjoy.

I must first admit that this “vision” was born out of frustration. For this reason you may not want to read further, but please do. Whereas I did get extremely frustrated over a couple of things that I will explain later, this frustration led me straight to the scripture and a search for truth. (This actually has probably been in the works for a number of years.)

I was a regular attendee at church throughout high school and college. I was a good soldier, respected my elders, for the most part, and was there just about every time the doors were open; even for the “fuddy-duddy” revivals. I helped with VBS and even mowed the lawn a few times. I even went to college to be a youth minister. After cramming four years of college into five, I got married and jetted off to Sioux City, Iowa to live the dream of being “the man”, a youth minister. This turned out to be the reason I am not in youth ministry now. I eventually ended up back at Dallas Christian College to get an education degree. (I did much better this time around.) We were introduced to a few ideas during this time but never really thought much about them. Chelsey and I both “grew up” in the church and both attended public schools, and both thought we turned out just fine. That was, until four simple revelations were revealed to me over the past few years.
