Be an "Angel"

On the way home today I had quite a frustrating experience. Some guy, who was turning left into four possible lanes, decided to swing out to his right in order to make his left hand turn. I naturally honked and lifted my hands to say, "what are you doing?" In doing so I drifted a bit to my left which led me straight into the median. Argh!! Well, apparently my tire exploded because when I came down off of the median I was on rim.

The car is my grandmother's '84 Buick LeSabre that only has 86,000 miles on it and is in pretty pristine condition. It also has hubcaps, Buick hubcaps. I had a car that had hubcaps once and they just popped right off. These were not popping off. As I pulled it loose on one side it would close up on the other. ARGH!!! I worked on it for about fifteen minutes getting more and more frustrated as the traffic kept going right on by, with the story of the Good Sammaritan rolling through my head.

Just as I was about to take the crowbar and treat the car to a nice "walk around", someone finally said behind me, "can't get it off." He explained to me how to pop off the center cap and loosen the bolt holding it on. The hubcap slid right off.

As I told this to my wife she said God must've known you needed an angel. Yup, I sure did.

How often do we act like the first two people in the Good Sammaritan story instead of the third? How often do we "assume" everything is ok? How often do we pass up an opportunity to be somone's angel for the day?

God calls us to be servants. It is a major theme throughout the Gospels and the New Testament. As you go through this week start to think of ways that you can be someone's angel. You may save them from making a very poor decision like mine did today.
